Tamariki Teina held a Pentecost Liturgy in Class this week. Our Catholic Character Leaders created this movie to share with you.
Last week (2 June – 6 June) was Samoan Language Week in Level 2. This stopped us gathering together as a School. However different classes learnt some Samoan Language, songs and legends. We fostered new ideas and discovered new questions like, “How did the coconut tree came to Samoa”? Watch this video to test your knowledge on counting to 10!

Welcome back to term 2, 2020. In Tumariki Tuakana the Year 7 and 8 students have technology at Karori West Normal School every week on a Tuesday.
At technology we are split into three different groups, one group does woodwork, another group does cooking, and the last group does sewing.
During level 2 Year 7 and 8 students are the only group in the school that are allowed to leave the school grounds. We are hoping that the rules will change soon, so all the students can have day outs and we can get back to normal activities e.g. ball sports, cross country and year eight lunches. In Tamariki Teina we are learning to participate and contribute, show compassion, and connect with our peers. We looked at the good things that came from lockdown like spending time with our families and bike rides. We put our ideas together and created murals on the court.
We also worked in groups to create a protection mechanism for an egg. We had to listen and respect others’ ideas during this time. We took our creations outside and dropped them from a height. It was one of my favourite parts of the week!

From Monday 25 May, we held our first Zoom Assembly, from Ruma Rimu. Our Tamariki Potiki di a wonderful job in leading our assembly, with beautiful singing and clear speaking. Parents /caregivers were emailed with a link on the morning of the assembly.
We had a few “technical issues” with this first attempt, which we can now work on for the next Assembly – to make sure everyone can enjoy the experience – from school, from home and from work!
